You might have thought it would be enough to get a travel book and you would be set to go. Well, while travel books are a valuable item you can also carry with you on your trip, I generally feel like they aren't super genuine (there might be exceptions, of course). What I mean is that they don't help you experience the country as a local, but they are more geared to the typical tourist.

So, if you are ok with just getting the tourist experience, a travel book would probably be ok. But if you want to have a more genuine experience, then I think you should listen to a local.

And mind you, even if you are not just a traveler, but you are planning to settle or you are already settled in Portugal, I still think that this kind of local's insight can be really useful. You will learn so much about the Portuguese culture and the little peculiarities of the Portuguese and of Portugal.

Olá! My name is Mia, and I'm a native Portuguese speaker who has lived most of my life in the lovely city of Porto. With over 15 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the joy of helping students from all walks of life discover the beauty of the Portuguese language and culture.

As someone who loves learning languages myself, I totally get the struggles that come with picking up a new language. I’m here to make that journey easier and more enjoyable for you!

Besides my experience, I hold a Master’s degree in Teaching Portuguese as a Second Language from Porto University and another Master’s in Linguistics from Utrecht University. I bring this background to my teaching while keeping things friendly and fun.

Is the platform easy to navigate? I am not tech savvy.
